Lauritsala parish covers nicely a compact area east of Lappeeranta city center, on both sides of Saimaa Canal. The landmark and only church of this parish is Lauritsala church (fi. Lauritsalan kirkko) with its tower reaching to the skies. For this reason, the church is called ”The light of heaven” (fi. Taivaanvalo). The parish house that is located in the church’s courtyard can be used for many different purposes. For example, community catering events, association meetings, memorials and christenings are often organized in our facilities.
The parish is located in the old Lauritsala borough area, around the traditional wood industry community. Nowadays, the parish is active in the area together with its 8000 members, local associations and volunteers. The parish also has a long tradition of close cooperation with schools and other organizations working with children and young people in the area. Our mission café Puoti ja pannu is a popular meeting place amongst adults and seniors.
