Pastoral care in hospitals and nursing homes

The purpose of hospital spiritual counselling is to offer support in a crisis caused by illness.  

Spiritual counselling is offered by hospital chaplains working in South Karelia Central Hospital, in the rehabilitation center of the wellbeing services county of South Karelia and in certain assisted living facilities: Juurakkokatu, Lehmuskoti, Leivontie, Ortamonpuisto, Penttiläntie, Pienniemi, Pormestarinkatu and Sammonkoti.

A hospital chaplain is a reliable listener and discussion partner – a person who is ready to be there for you and discuss thoughts, questions and feelings related to the illness. Hospital chaplains are also available for the Eucharist, prayers, confessions and other liturgical resources. Hospital chaplains are there for patients, residents and their loved ones but also for hospital employees.
